Before You Apply
1. Determine size of area to be treated - measure length and width in feet, then multiply to determine coverage area in sq ft (length x width). Next, subtract nonlawn areas.
2. Use the spreader setting chart to determine the approximate setting.
3. Treat as directed - thorough coverage is important. Water in as indicated.
4. Keep children and pets off treated areas until this material is washed into turf and grass is dry.
How Much To Apply
Set the spreader to the appropriate setting indicated. Settings are figured at 3.2 lb per 1000 sq ft. This provides 0.92 lb of nitrogen per 1000 sq ft. A lawn typically will utilize 1 to 4 lb of nitrogen per 1000 sq ft per growing season. Please consult your local county extension service or store associate for questions regarding a regular fertilizer program suitable for your geographical region.
Do not apply extra fertilizer or too little fertilizer. Set the spreader to the appropriate setting indicated. Place your spreader on a driveway or other paved surface when filling. This guards against spilling fertilizer on grass. For even coverage, begin walking before you turn spreader on to the open position so as to avoid dropping fertilizer in one spot. Be sure the spreader is closed when filling it, when turning to backtrack or if stopping on lawn.
