Vigoro Perennials

Vigoro's new line of perennials will include more than 100 total varieties and will be available in quart and gallon sizes.

Bugleweed (Ajuga reptans 'Black Scallop' PPAF) - Very crinkled, large dark burgundy to black colored leaves with neon blue flowers. Deer resistant and tolerates poor soils.

Hollyhock (Alcea rosea 'Summer Carnival') - Large double flowers on upright stems in wide range of colors.  Strong vertical accent.

Blue Star (Amsonia x 'Blue Ice') - Dwarf, long blooming variety that bears star shaped, deep blue flowers on green foliage that turns yellow in the fall. Drought tolerant.

Hybrid Anemone (Anemone x hybrid 'Harmony Blue, Harmony Pearl, Harmony Orchid, Harmony Scarlet') - Dwarf habit is perfect for containers and blooms until summer.

Columbine (Aquilegia vulgaris 'Clementine Blue') - Very floriferous with upward facing, spurless blue blooms form a mound with sturdy upright stems.

Columbine (Aquilegia vulgaris 'Winky Double Red & White') - Bicolor double upward facing blooms form a tidy mound of "ruffled" flowers.  Sturdy, uniform, compact, and good for containers.

Wormwood (Artemisia vulgaris 'Oriental Limelight') - Silvery-gray foliage with neat, bushy habit.  Excellent contrast plant for sunny garden.

False Spirea (Astilbe chinensis 'Maggie Daley') - Bronze tinted foliage is topped with rigidly upright plums of lavender pink blooms.

False Spirea (Astilbe chinensis 'Visions in Red') - Purple-red feathery flowers open from red buds over bronze-green foliage in summer.  Soft texture for a moist shade garden.

English Daisy (Bellis perennis 'Habanera Mix') - Profuse fluffy double blooms with fine ray petals form a colorful low growing carpet in red, rose, white and white w/red tips.

Peach Leaved Bellflower (Campanula persicifolia ) - Clusters of blue or white flowers atop wiry stalks and foliage looks like peach tree leaves.  Ideal plant for background plantings and cut flower.

Bugbane (Cimcifuga ramosa 'Black Negligee') - Fragrant, fluffy bottle brush like flower spikes above dark purple foliage.  Perfect for woodland gardens.

Mouse Ear Coreopsis (Coreopsis auriculata 'Zamphir') - Golden flowers with unique fluted tubular petals.  Long-blooming and vigorous.

Threadleaf Tickseed (Coreopsis rosea 'American Dream') - Fine foliage spangled with rose pink flowers.

Larkspur (Delphinium 'Mistral Star') - Branched bushy habit and finely cut foliage support navy blue flowers with white centers.  Deadheading prolongs blooms.

Sweet William (Dianthus barbarini) - In Lilac, purplue, purple picotee, red, rose and bouquet purple. Compact, vibrant flowers perfect for gardens and containers.

Cheddar Pinks (Dianthus) - In Raspberry Swirl, Easter Star, Neon Star, Shooting Star, Strawberry Sorbet. Striking, fragrant flowers with mat forming silvery gray foliage.

Fringed Bleeding Heart (Dicentra exima) - Long arching stems of rose-pink heart shaped blooms over grey-green fernlike foliage. Deer resistant.

Coneflower (Echinacea) - Comes in various colors including magenta, coral, orange, and yellow with dark green, broad foliage.

Blanket Flower (Gaillardia 'Fanfare') - Brilliant scarlet trumpets that flare to bright yellow at the ends have upward facing rays. Sturdy and compact.

Blanket Flower (Gaillardia 'Oranges and Lemons') - Peach orange center with warm golden yellow tips.  Upright variety.

Cranesbill (Geranium sanguineum 'John Elsley') - Carmine-pink flowers with dark petal veins in summer atop low, mounding green foliage. Perfect around trees or shrubs that provide partial shade.

Cranesbill (Geranium x oxonianum 'Katherine Adele') - Vivid burgundy markings in Spring with pink flowers in April-May. Excellent groundcover.

Cranesbill (Geranium x 'Rozanne') - Large deep blue flowers are heat tolerant and long blooming.  Foliage becomes reddish in the fall for added garden interest.

Cranesbill (Geranium x 'Tiny Monster') - Low sprawling habit create a quick cover of showy purple flowers which take on rich scarlet tones in fall.

Lenten Rose (Helleborus orientalis 'Royal Heritage') - Large nodding flowers on short stems in shades of yellow, white, purple, red with yellow centers over evergreen serrated leathery-like leaves.  Use along walkways or paths.

Daylily (Hemerocallis) - In the following varieties: Daring Deception, Joan Senior, Pandora's Box, Rosy Returns, Sleepy Hollow, Strawberry Candy, Tooth, Veins of Truth, Wild Horses. This popular perennial forms large clumps with lily flowers on erect stems over grass like green foliage.  Drought tolerant once established.

Coral Bells (Heuchera) - Varieties include: Bressingham Hybrids, Caramel, Marmalade, Plum Pudding, Lime Rickey, Obsidian, Peach Flambe, Stormy Seas. Sport airy flower spikes on wiry stems above low-growing, often dramatic foliage.

Plantain Lily (Hosta) - Varieties include: Carnival, Fair Maiden, Frances Williams, Great Arrival, Great Expectations, Guacamole, Lemon Frost, Queen Josephine, Regal Splendor, Sagae, Sharmon, Elegans, So Sweet, Sum and Substance, Summer Breeze, Sweet Home Chicago, Twilight, Whirlwind. Known for it's decorative, large clumps of lush green foliage and spikes of lily shaped, sometimes fragrant flowers which appear later in summer. The leaves come in a broad range of solid colors, from blue to green or gold. The most common leaf shape is heartlike, but some varieties have narrow, straplike leaves.

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia 'Jean Davis') - Soft pink flowers spike over lush silver-gray green lance like foliage.  Very aromatic and is excellent used as edging around walkways.

Lavender (Lavandula x intermedia 'Silver Edge') - Light blue flowers with green-silvery cream variegated foliage.  Tidyand compact habit.

Asiatic Lily (Lilium 'Lollypop') - White lily flowers have raspberry tips on long stems. Used in middle borders and containers.

Lupine (Lupinus x 'Gallery Red') - Spikes of delicate, pea-shaped red flowers.  Hummingbirds and butterflies love the intense color.  Incredible garden performer.

Iceland Poppy (Papaver nudicaule 'Summer Breeze Mix') - Tidy compact habit of tissue paper like flowers of yellow, orange and white. Excellent cut flowers.

Oriental Poppy (Papaver orientale) - Varieties include: Little Candy Floss, Papillon, Scarlet O'Hara. Blooms during May and June, grows from 2 1/2 feet to 4 feet high. The flowers often measure 9 and 10 inches across. Some of them have a black blotch in the center of the petals and all have a great number of purplish-black stamens.

Beardtongue (Penstemon barbatus praecox nanus) - Varieties include: Pinacolada Blue, Pinacolada Deep Rose, Pinacolada Light Rose, Pinacolada Red, Pinacolada Violet. This May-June free flowering perennial has great branching and colors.  Perfect for sunny gardens.

Ribbon Grass (Phalaris arundinacea 'Strawberries & Cream') - Beautiful silver flowers on spikes above green and white striped foliage that have a pink blush in Spring.  Drought tolerant.

Sweet William Phlox (Phlox divaricata 'Blue Moon') - Mildly fragrant spring flowers open in clusters and rebloom through summer.  Slender leafy stems soften the perennial border.  Useful bulb cover and in rock gardens.

Garden Phlox (Phlox paniculata) - Varieties include: Becky Tower, Blue Paradise, Elisabeth, Eva Cullum, Robert Poore. A clump-forming, upright plant which produces large, showy flower clusters in summer. Plants are generally 2 to 4 feet tall.

Jacob's Ladder (Polemonium reptans 'Stairway to Heaven' ) - Gray green foliage with variegated creamy white edge. Bell-shaped blue flowers tolerates heat and drought.

Chinese Miniature Rose (Rosa chinensis 'Angel Wings') - Sweetly scented flowers in shades of rose, pink and white with many double blooms.  Use in containers and borders.

Ornamental Sage (Salvia lyrata 'Purple Volcano') - Impressive purple bronze foliage rosettes turning deep purple in Fall perfect for borders, containers or rock gardens.

Sage (Salvia nemorosa 'Pink Friesland') - Long-blooming deep rosy flower spikes on compact bushy plant.  Disease resistant.

Sensation Rose Meadow Sage (Salvia nemorosa 'Sensation Rose') - Long soft lilac pink flower spikes on fragrant dark green compact foliage.

Elderberry (Sambucus nigra 'Black Beauty') - Massive lemon scented pink flowers in June on intriguing dark black foliage. Can cut back yearly as a bold perennial.

Stonecrop (Sedum x 'Purple Emperor') - Dark purple to black leaves are topped with heads of pinkish purple flowers in summer.  Outstanding landscape plant.

Nodding Catchfly (Silene pendula 'Triumph Rose') - Dwarf spreading habit with double carmine-rose flowers and foliage that is tinged with purple. Perfect for rock gardens.

Stokes Aster (Stokesia laevis 'Peaches Pick') - Showy purple flowers on this clump forming evergreen plant.  Used in mixed borders and meadow gardens.

Globeflower (Trollius x cultorum 'Golden Queen' ) - Globe-like orange yellow flowers on tall stems above dark green foliage. Works well in natural plantings and as a cut flower.

Mullein (Verbascum x hybridum 'Southern Charm') - Graceful flower spikes above coarsely toothed, gray green basal foliage.  Use in containers, as edging or cut flower.

Speedwell (Veronica x 'Eveline') - Rich rose purple flower spikes over green lance like serrated leaves make a striking display in rock gardens or as edging.
